| Comments: | What memories! Don Perry, Blake Ball, Ron Hergott, Ken 'Gunner' Garrett, Murray Kuntz, and Dave Hainsworth, just to name a few. But there is one sad New Haven Blade memory for me - George Guilbault. On December 27, 1970, George lost an eye during a game against the Clinton Comets. The play occured right below were I was sitting. George was 27 at the time. I also remembering sitting next to the Clinton Comets bench one night. 'Next to' in those days meant elbow to elbow. And who can forget Dave Hainsworth and his shutouts in a playoff series against the Comets. I could go on and on. To all the Blades players and fans, thanks for the memories. |

Mayor Destafano is just gay and he has to be taken out... I thought that when most of us went to that rally day... that was the greatest...THE NEW HAVEN COLIUSEM SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN CLOSED.. THE ONLY ARENA THAT SHOULD BE CLOSED IS BRIDGEPORT... WELL IT SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN BUILT IN THE FIRST PLACE.... I miss new haven... i really do... all we have to do is just hope and pray that we can find someone to change mayor destafano mind... it may take a million years but hey... as long as its not delmiloshed... its good.. i guess? |

Gordie walker scoring the OT goal was another great memory. The whole building chanting tingley sucks (the out of town writer who degraded section 14). and the whole city getting wrapped up in that playoff run was great. from the penalty shot to clinching a spot in the finals that was the most excited iv ever seen a buliding get. hope some day the ahl can come back to new haven |

Now I live in Southern New Hampshire and have been following Lowell and Manchester respectively. Manchester these days is how I remember the early 70's when the Nighthawks came to town and fired up a New Haven I dont see anymore on visits back. Funny thing is everytime I visit Lowell's arena, I am blown away how a town like Lowell can support a team and New Haven's mayor says it's too expensive. I hope the Coliseum doesnt come down, because it is such a major part of what could and should be a great city. |

| Comments: | Great to see this site. I was born in New Haven and then moved to Clinton as a kid. I grew up on the Nighthawks. Missed out on the Beast while in the military, but I caught some Knights games and they were a lot of fun. I just noticed the poll about a UHL team rumored to be going to Danbury. I have heard no such rumor. The only facility in town is the Danbury Ice arena (www.danburyice.com), a nice facility with two rinks. But one rink supports about 700 seats and the other has no seats. I don't see a minor league hockey team going there any time soon. They are in the process, however, of building a minor league baseball stadium for an expansion team yet to be named in the independent Northeast League to begin play in 2004. What I wouldn't give to turn back the clock to October 1997 for the opening night of the Beast and rock that freaking building one more time! TK's, especially on Monday nights and after games, was awesome. Keep up the great work on the website, message boards, photos, and other items that will forever keep the memories alive. | Comments: | I grew up in the coliseum and now live in Wisconsin. I think it's a disgrace that it will be demolished!!!!! I went to concerts there, hockey games, wrestling, and just about anything that was going on there. Now the stupid mayor is going to tear it down and the sost will be $10 million? Why not keep it open and promote it? How stupid can he be? He wants to put Long Wharf theater there? Why not just have tha plays there? I remember someone saying that the colliseum has greast sound.
